07.06.2017  14:47

On the occasion of the Danish Constitution Day, June 5th, the Embassy of Denmark in Belgrade organized a celebration of the Centenary of Diplomatic Relations with Serbia, in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Defence.

The central celebration took part at the House of Army, with the special performances by ‘Prince’s Military Orchestra’ from Denmark and ‘Stanislav Binicki’ military orchestra from Serbia.
The two orchestras also threw a spontaneous pop-up performance at Belgrade Fortress the day before on Sunday, June 4th.

In his speech, Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Denmark, Morten Skovgaard Hansen praised the good relations and cooperation between the two countries.

“In the last decade our cooperation has developed through a broad range of projects.
From support to human rights projects to the ‘Fruits and Berries’ project creating more than 800 jobs. In the defence area we have implemented important capacity building projects in great cooperation with the Serbian ministry of defence.  And today Serbia is increasingly becoming a partner in international peace keeping missions - you can be proud of that.

Denmark supports Serbia on its path towards the EU which will lead to important benefits for Serbian citizens. We already see how the economy is picking up and as reforms are implemented we will see further increase in investments and job creation.”

Serbia’s Defence Minister, Zoran Đorđević, thanked Denmark for its long-term support to Serbia’s defence system.

“As Defence Minister, I am proud of the fact that our cooperation in the defence area is top priority of the Ministry of Defence. Friends support each other and I therefore use this opportunity to thank you for all your support. Your support to our European road, the forming of Danish business club for all Danish companies interested in the Serbian market and finally, especially important to me as a minister and what I am grateful for, is implementation of many projects, which contributed to the entire defence system. As we have in the past century recognized the areas and modalities of cooperation, the future period I see as the time to open a new chapter of our diplomatic relations.”
