Online visa application

Visa Self Service – visa applications to Denmark online. Since the 23rd of December 2010 it has been possible to apply for a visa for Denmark or Iceland at the Danish Embassy in Belgrade online.

Who can apply online

The purpose of travel must be business, tourism, visiting friends or family, official, medical reasons or transit.

The length of stay must not exceed 90 days in any six months period.

Applicants who intend to work and / or stay longer than 90 days (in any six months period) in Denmark, Iceland, Greenland or the Faroe Islands, require a work / residence permit and cannot use Visa Self Service Denmark.

Travelling to Greenland or the Faroe Islands

If Greenland or the Faroe Islands is your main destination you must inform the embassy about it. Please do the following:

  1. When filling out the application on this website choose Denmark as your main destination
  2. When you hand in the cover letter to the embassy, please inform the consular staff about your main destination being Greenland or the Faroe Islands

How to apply online

When you fill out the Schengen visa application form online, data are transferred directly to the Danish Embassy in Belgrade. Therefore you do not have to hand in a visa application in paper. However, you must hand in a signed cover letter. The cover letter can be printed from the website when the application is finished.

The following steps must be completed:

  1. Register and log in
  2. Start application
  3. Fill in the application
  4. Check data
  5. Select application fee
  6. Reserve payment
  7. Sign cover letter
  8. Check status

Make sure to:

  1. Register and log in. Click on 'Register user' to create a login if you have not made a login already.
  2. Start application. When you are logged in click on 'Individual application'.
  3. Fill in the application. Type in the needed information throughout Visa Self Service and read presented texts.
    If you need to stop before you have completed the form, click 'Save' and log out. When you log in again, you find the unfinished application by clicking on 'Previous applications' and then it is possible to continue the registration.
  4. Check data. When the form is completed you will see a summary. Please check data in the summary and go back if you need to correct mistakes. If you would like to see the final version of your application for Schengen Visa click 'Print application'.
  5. Select application fee. Select fee according to fee regulations. For information about visa fees see the embassy's website
  6. Reserve payment. If you have selected full or reduced fee, you are directed to the payment reservation page. Fill in data from your credit card to reserve the selected amount on your account. When you hand in cover letter and documents at the embassy the staff will deduct the money from your account and you will get a receipt. If you select the wrong fee the embassy will correct the payment according to fee regulations. If you have reserved too small an amount on your account the embassy will charge you extra in cash. If the amount you have reserved is greater than the fee you must pay, the embassy will only withdraw the right amount from your account.
  7. Sign cover letter. Print the cover letter and sign it. The embassy will not start processing your application before they have received the signed cover letter.
  8. Check status. When you have handed in the cover letter and all the required documents, the embassy/consulate will start processing your application. Log in to Visa Self Service and click on 'Previous applications' to see the status of your application.

Supporting documents

When you apply for a visa you need to submit your passport and other documents to the embassy before your application can be processed.
The type of documents required may vary according to purpose of travel and the type of visa applied for. Please find information about required documents at the Embassy web site.

To shorten processing time it is important that all required documents are handed in with the signed cover letter.
