The Danish Embassy in Belgrade is looking for a team player with strong personal and professional integrity to head the Embassy’s trade efforts and help Danish companies entering new markets.

As Head of Economic Diplomacy department as a commercial advisor you will be responsible for assisting Danish companies in navigating the markets of Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia through identification of business opportunities and potential bottlenecks; responding to trade inquiries, promoting Danish commercial interests, be responsible for trade missions, trade fair activities, networking events etc. You will assist Danish companies translate opportunities into real business. The nature of the services that we provide are primarily advisory, market research and public affairs-related activities. The services that we provide to Danish companies are chargeable, and measured against annual KPI’s for both volume and quality of services delivered to Danish businesses in our regional cooperation in the Central Eastern European (CEE) region.

You will be working in Serbia, but travel to neighbouring countries may be required. As part of a broader region, you are expected to cooperate and coordinate with other heads of Economic Diplomacy in other Embassies in the CEE-region. Furthermore, you will be coordinating and cooperating with other departments in the Embassy, primarily in the area of Public Diplomacy as well as regular reporting to the Head of Mission and Deputy Head of Mission.

As a member of a small and dynamic team, you will have to be self-driven and show initiative, as you will be the only full-time advisor on Economic Diplomacy and Trade at the Embassy On commercial matters you will be supervised by the regional coordinator based in Prague.

Required qualifications

  • Formal education BA/BSc level or higher,
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in business development, business services advisory or related area. 

  • Existing own network of contacts with local public and private sectors.
  • Fluency in English and Serbian.
  • Experience in working with CRM systems is an advantage.
  • High level of people skills – client orientation, networking, and ability to work with others.
  • Ability to plan and organize and work independently with a pro-active and creative attitude.


    Desired qualifications

  • Knowledge of Danish is an advantage.
  • Sector knowledge within Energy, Digitalization or Health will be an advantage
  • Network of contacts within public and private sectors in Montenegro and North Macedonia is an advantage.
  • Experience in working in international/multinational environment is an advantage.
  • Experience in managing and working on social media is an advantage.
  • Direct experience in working for international organizations, missions or multinational companies is considered an advantage.
  • Experience in leading small teams of junior colleagues is an advantage.

 Terms of employment

All employment with the Danish Foreign Service requires security clearance by the Danish Security and Intelligence Service.

You will be employed full time as a local employee at the Danish Embassy in Belgrade. Salary according to qualifications. You will have the right to 5 weeks of paid annual leave and a flexible Danish working scheme. Bonuses may be awarded upon fulfilment of personal KPI’s at year-end.

Place of work and expected starting date

You will be hired at the Danish Embassy in Belgrade, and you will report directly to the Head of Mission.

The start date will be decided jointly (preferably 15 February 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter).
