Denmark Supports Serbian Green Energy Agenda

On the invitation from the RES Foundation, the Danish Ambassador, Anders Hougård, opened 8th International Energy and Investment Days in Novi Sad, on Thursday, November 27th.

During the opening ceremony, Ambassador Hougård stated:

"Today, Denmark is one of the world’s most energy efficient economies.
The Danish Energy Model raises interest all over the world, with numerous delegations visiting our country and learning about it.

The Danish Energy Model paved the way for the achievements we have today:
- District heating supplies more than 60% of all households in Denmark with heat and hot water.
- Energy consumption in buildings has been reduced by 45% per square meter since 1975.
- Almost 30% of Denmark’s final energy consumption is covered by renewable energy.
If we measure electricity supply alone, renewable energy today accounts for well above 50% of domestic generation.
This is mainly due to the incorporation of wind energy in electricity production.
But wind can also be unpredictable. So, it is crucial that the system is supported through a power exchange with the neighbouring countries.
This is why Denmark fully supports the European Energy Union and works closely with its Nordic neighbours.
And what is good for the economy, is good for the businesses as well.
It is no wonder that Denmark has produced companies like Vestas, Grundfos, Danfoss, Velux, Rockwool, to name a few."
