Danish Architecture in Serbia in May 2019

Supported by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Danish Ministry for Culture, the Embassy will this May organize an extensive promotion of Danish architecture in Serbia.

In cooperation with the Danish national television DR and Serbian national television RTS, the Embassy will organize an exclusive screening of a Danish architecture documentary "Great Architecture on a Small Planet" (Vi Bygger Det Væk), co-produced by the Thin Green Line production.

The documentary will be shown on RTS 2 on Thursday, May 9th at 10 am, as an announcement for other Danish architecture projects in Serbia.

On Friday, May 10th, a special supplement on Danish architecture and urban planning will be published in daily newspaper Politika. With the texts from the Danish Ambassador, Belgrade City architect and the Danish participants at BINA, this supplement will be distributed in 77.000 copies, with estimated reach of app. 100.000 people.

In partnership with the Belgrade Culture Center and PE Belgrade Fortress, we will open an exhibition "Contemporary Danish Architecture" on Monday, May 13th at 5:30 pm, on the plateau in front of the Belgrade Culture Center.

The opening will be done by the Danish Ambassador to Serbia, Anders Hougård, professor Jakob Knudsen, the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture (Royal Danish Academy for Fine Arts) in Copenhagen, and professor Olga Popovic Larsen, professor at the Faculty of Architecture (Royal Danish Academy for Fine Arts) in Copenhagen.

On the same day, Monday May 13th, the two professors will hold lectures at the Belgrade International Architecture Week, discussing innovation and sustainable goals. In cooperation with the Engineering Chamber of Serbia, the lectures will also count towards continuous education of the engineers and architects in Serbia.

On Monday, May 20th, we will have two more lectures at the Belgrade International Architecture Week. Jakob Matzen, a former member of the urban planning department with the City of Copenhagen, will share his experience in what it takes to build resilient and sustainable cities. This lecture starts at 6pm, and will be followed by a lecture from ADEPT studio who will reflect on reviving urban spaces that serve both nature and people. In cooperation with the Engineering Chamber of Serbia, the lectures will also count towards continuous education of the engineers and architects in Serbia.

The architectural outreach in Serbia starts the week before.

On Friday, May 17th, in cooperation with the City of Niš and Faculty for Civil Engineering and Architecture in Niš, the Embassy will organize opening of the exhibition "Contemporary Danish Architecture", followed by a lecture by Jakob Matzen, a former member of the urban planning department with the City of Copenhagen.

On Tuesday, May 21st, in cooperation with the city of Šabac, the Embassy will organize opening of the exhibition "Contemporary Danish Architecture" at the main city square, followed by a lecture by Jakob Matzen.

On Wednesday, May 22nd, in cooperation with the Architecture Department (Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad), the Embassy will open the exhibition "Contemporary Danish Architecture", followed by a lecture by Jakob Matzen.
